A+ Content Builder
What it does: A+ Content Builder creates Amazon A+ module copy, image slots, dimensions, Canva shortcuts, optional AI image prompts, and a copy export for building polished book product pages.
Best used when: you need Amazon A+ content for a single book, a series page, a launch, a relaunch, or a store-page refresh that sells the reading experience instead of repeating the blurb.
Important Amazon Limit
Amazon A+ allows 5 modules max. This tool gives you more than five options so you can choose the five that fit the book best. Reading Order and Tropes are off by default.
Do not try to use every module. Pick the cleanest five.
Using A+ Content Builder in the Suite
- Open the Darkling Suite from the classroom link.
- Select the active book or project.
- Go to Sales Pages & Store Assets and open A+ Content Builder.
- Choose your AI engine and confirm your API key is entered.
- Review the book title, author name, premise, and tone if the Suite Brain fills them in.
- Choose the genre.
- Click Generate All Modules.
- Remove or hide modules until the active count is five or fewer.
The Suite version is best when your title, premise, and tone already live in the project brain.
Using A+ Content Builder Standalone
- Open the standalone A+ Content Builder link provided in the classroom.
- Choose your AI engine and paste your API key if needed.
- Enter the book title, author name, genre, premise, and tone notes.
- Click Generate All Modules.
- Edit the copy directly inside each module field.
- Upload your own images or use the AI image buttons for prompt-assisted visuals.
- Use Copy All Copy when you are ready to move the text into your build process.
The standalone version is best for a single store page, a quick A+ draft, or an author who is not using the Suite Brain.
What to Fill In First
- Book Title: the exact title used on Amazon.
- Author Name: the pen name on the product page.
- Genre: the reader shelf the copy should speak to.
- Premise / Book Description: the stakes, central conflict, romance/plot engine, and what makes the book distinct.
- Tone & Mood Notes: the emotional and visual feel: dark, funny, cozy, gothic, spicy, cinematic, tender, brutal, lush, etc.
The premise field matters most. A vague premise produces generic A+ copy.
Module Options
- Hero Banner: 970 x 300 px header image with a short headline.
- Brand Story / Series Feature: 300 x 300 px image plus headline and body text.
- About the Book: 300 x 300 px image plus book-specific emotional pitch.
- Four-Image Feature Grid: four 220 x 220 px images with short captions.
- Reading Order: optional series module for up to four books.
- Editorial Quote / CTA: text-only quote, attribution, and call to action.
- Tropes Banner: optional 970 x 300 px banner built around tropes/tags.
Default Five to Start With
If you are not sure what to use, start with:
- Hero Banner for immediate atmosphere.
- Brand Story / Series Feature if the book belongs to a larger author or series promise.
- About the Book for the emotional selling point.
- Four-Image Feature Grid for tropes, world, stakes, or reader payoffs.
- Editorial Quote / CTA if you have a permitted quote or want a clean final push.
Swap in Reading Order for series pages. Swap in Tropes Banner when trope recognition is stronger than a quote.
Copy Controls
- Generate All Modules: creates copy across the available module set.
- Regenerate: rewrites one module without replacing everything else.
- Copy All Copy: copies a text export of all module copy.
- Clear Saved Data: resets saved fields, module copy, and module visibility.
- Character Counters: show whether the copy fits the field limit.
Image Controls
- Drop Image: upload an image directly into the module slot.
- AI Image: opens a prompt box for generating an image for that module.
- Regenerate Image: reruns the image prompt for that slot.
- Canva Buttons: open Canva so you can build the correct image size.
- Dimension Labels: show the exact size each module expects.
For any module that uses text inside the image, plan to clean it up in Canva. AI image generators often struggle with readable words.
Editorial Quote Rule
Amazon has restrictions around quotes. Use quotes from publications, public figures, ARC blogs, or public platforms with attribution. Do not frame anonymous reader reviews as editorial quotes.
When in doubt, use the quote module as a CTA instead of risking a noncompliant quote.
Recommended Workflow
- Enter strong book data first. Title, genre, premise, and tone should be accurate before generating.
- Generate all modules once. This gives you a full menu of options.
- Choose your best five. Keep the modules that sell the reader experience most clearly.
- Edit the copy in place. Cut anything that repeats the blurb or sounds too generic.
- Build images last. Finalize copy and module selection before spending time on graphics.
- Copy the text export. Keep a clean record of the final module copy before uploading assets to Amazon.
What Makes Strong A+ Content
- It adds something the blurb does not. A+ should deepen the promise, not repeat the product description.
- It sells identity. Readers should feel “this is for me.”
- It is skimmable. Short headlines, clear modules, fast emotional payoff.
- It has visual logic. The modules should look like one page, not five unrelated graphics.
- It respects the book’s actual promise. Do not oversell heat, darkness, tropes, or scale the book does not deliver.
Common Fixes
- The copy sounds generic: add more specific premise details and regenerate one module at a time.
- The page repeats itself: make each module do a different job.
- Too many modules are active: hide/remove until the counter is five or fewer.
- The quote is not compliant: replace it with a CTA or a permitted attributed quote.
- The images look mismatched: use the Brand DNA palette and visual direction before rebuilding graphics.
- The trope banner text is messy: generate the atmosphere, then add clean labels in Canva.
Best Pairings
- Brand DNA Generator: use the visual identity and reader promise before building the A+ page.
- TropeFinder: pull accurate tropes and reader-facing positioning for grids or banners.
- HookHero: create sharper module headlines.
- OmniSqueeze: repurpose strong A+ language into social posts, emails, and platform copy.
- EdgeWeaver: use after post-production if you are also creating print assets with matching visuals.
