In this fictional example, we made a guide to a city that trades memories, then reviewed the actual output and its continuity check. The tool caught a rule that needed correcting. We edited the guide and sharpened the landing headline before preparing it for download. You can also generate a three-day promotion sequence. Choose the reader benefit
MagnetFactory is labeled Bonus Content Factory in this standalone app. It helps you turn a book's world and characters into a reader bonus and supporting promotional copy. We are making a spoiler-light visitor guide to Veyr, the fictional city from The Archive of Forgotten Names. Start by deciding who the bonus is for and what they will get from it. A world guide lets an interested reader explore the setting. A bonus epilogue or alternate point of view serves a different reader need.

Load context and set the boundaries
Make sure the correct book information is loaded in Book DNA. Choose your supported AI provider and enter your key; provider usage is separate. Select World-Building Guide, then choose the short length and a clean heat setting for this example. In Plot Context, explain the reader goal and spoiler boundary. We want the archive, memory market, and world rules, without revealing the ending. Paste established facts into the Continuity Bible, including the exact names and who pays the cost of restoring a memory.

Generate the bonus and supporting copy
Leave the promotional pipeline and continuity check selected if you want those steps included. Click Generate Bonus Content. The tool creates the guide, landing-page text, and a three-day promotion sequence. These steps can take multiple AI requests, so allow them to finish. Read the guide as a reader would. Does it offer a clear, useful introduction to the world? Is the length appropriate? Are the headings easy to follow? The generated draft is the beginning of your editorial pass, even when it looks complete.

Use the continuity result
This example produced a helpful catch. The draft said the thief must sacrifice a memory to restore a stolen one. Our canon says the restorer pays that cost. The continuity panel flagged the contradiction and suggested the correct wording. Read both the quoted draft and the rule it conflicts with. The check is another aid to review, not a guarantee that it found everything. We also noticed invented history and an unsupported faction, which needed a human decision about whether they belonged in this guide.

Edit inside the app
The bonus-content area is editable. We changed thief to restorer, clarified the restoration rule, and removed the invented history and faction. Those are editorial choices made after generation. Read the revised copy again before downloading it. The app offers text, HTML, and PDF options, which suit different next steps. Text is useful for more editing; your reader-facing version still needs proofreading and a check of the final layout. Keep the bonus aligned with the book and avoid promising details your actual story does not contain.

Prepare the signup and promotion
Review the landing headline, description, button, thank-you message, and social copy. We replaced the generic headline with: Step inside Veyr, where every memory has a price. The description now says exactly what the guide contains. The three-day sequence gives you draft promotional angles to adapt. Add your real signup destination and delivery process in your own email or website tools. Generating this copy does not create a working signup funnel by itself. Finish the bonus, test delivery, and then promote the specific thing readers will receive.

What it does: MagnetFactory creates reader magnets and bonus content from your book’s existing world, characters, tropes, and voice. It can also generate landing page copy, thank-you page copy, social promo copy, and a three-day promotion pipeline.

Best used when: you need a newsletter freebie, preorder bonus, reader reward, shop bonus, launch extra, ARC incentive, or a post-release reason for readers to join your list.

Using MagnetFactory in the Suite

  1. Open the Darkling Suite from the classroom link.
  2. Select the correct active book or project on the Suite dashboard.
  3. Make sure Book DNA exists for the project. MagnetFactory needs title, premise, characters, worldbuilding, tropes, and manuscript text when possible.
  4. Go to Launch, Email & Reader Growth and click MagnetFactory.
  5. Choose your AI engine and confirm your API key is entered.
  6. Select the magnet type you want to create.
  7. Set length, heat override, character POV, continuity notes, and promo options.
  8. Click Generate Bonus Content.

The Suite version is best when you want the magnet to stay grounded in the active book’s canon and marketing data.

Using MagnetFactory Standalone

  1. Open the standalone MagnetFactory or Bonus Content Factory link provided in the classroom.
  2. Select your AI engine and paste your API key if needed.
  3. Use Book DNA / manuscript upload first if available, so the tool has canon to work from.
  4. Select the magnet type.
  5. Add plot context, timeline anchor, scene description, character POV, voice sample, and continuity notes.
  6. Choose whether to include the three-day promo pipeline.
  7. Generate, edit, then download or copy the final magnet.

The standalone version is best for a quick reader magnet, a client freebie, or a book that is not loaded into the full Suite.

  • Alternate POV: a key scene from another character’s eyes.

  • Second-Chance Epilogue: a years-later extended ending.
  • Character Dossiers: cast sheets, traits, secrets, and reader-friendly profiles.
  • Book Club Kit: discussion questions and themed extras.
  • Extras Pack: recipes, playlists, maps, and companion goodies.
  • Texting Thread: a screenshot-friendly group chat or message exchange.
  • Series Starter Sampler: a start-here intro plus excerpt for converting new readers.

Important Options

  • Length: choose short for quick bonuses and long for deeper reader rewards.
  • Heat Override: use this when the magnet should be cleaner, hotter, or different from the book’s default heat level.
  • Character POV: essential for alternate POV, spicy scenes, texting threads, and character-driven bonuses.
  • Plot Context & Continuity: paste the facts the AI must obey, especially unresolved threads, timeline placement, and relationship status.
  • Deep Voice Sample: paste a short excerpt from the relevant POV if voice matching matters.
  • Timeline Anchor: tells the tool when the bonus happens in relation to the book.
  • Continuity Bible: canon facts the generated piece should not contradict.
  • Continuity Check: compares the draft bonus against the canon bible after generation.

Recommended Workflow

  1. Start with the reader goal. Decide whether this magnet is meant to grow the list, reward buyers, sell the next book, or revive interest after launch.
  2. Pick the magnet type that matches that goal. A spicy scene rewards existing fans. A sampler converts new readers. A next-book chapter drives read-through.
  3. Add continuity before generating. Name the timeline, relationship state, world rules, and anything the bonus must not break.
  4. Generate the bonus content. Read it like an editor, not like someone relieved to have a freebie.
  5. Use the continuity check. Fix any contradictions before you format or upload the magnet.
  6. Copy the landing page and promo copy. Use it for your signup page, thank-you page, newsletter announcement, and social posts.
  7. Download the final asset. Use .txt for editing, HTML for web use, or PDF when you want a finished reader-facing file.

Common Fixes

  • The bonus contradicts the book: build or paste a stronger continuity bible and regenerate, or use the fix continuity option.
  • The voice sounds off: add a deeper voice sample from the POV character.
  • The piece feels random: add a clearer timeline anchor and scene description.
  • The magnet does not feel valuable enough: choose a more desirable type, such as alternate POV, spicy scene, bonus epilogue, next-book chapter, or world guide.
  • The landing copy is too generic: edit the headline around the specific thing readers get, not the abstract fact that it is bonus content.
