PlotArchitect

What it does: PlotArchitect turns a messy book idea, rough premise, trope list, or brain dump into a marketable story framework. It gives you a scroll-stop premise, the protagonist’s core wound, the trope engine, a first viral image scene, a possession line, TeaserPro art direction, a TikTok caption, and an X/Twitter thread.

Best used when: you have the shape of a book but need the market-facing language, trope clarity, emotional hook, and first promotional angles.

Using PlotArchitect in the Suite

  1. Open the Darkling Suite from the classroom link.
  2. Select the correct active book or project in the Suite dashboard before opening the tool.
  3. Go to Writing & Story Architecture and click PlotArchitect.
  4. Choose your AI engine from the dropdown. Paste the correct API key if it is not already saved in your browser.
  5. Choose the Target Aesthetic that most closely matches the book.
  6. Paste your brain dump into the main text box.
  7. Click Architect the Plot.
  8. Review each output. Copy anything you want to use immediately.

Inside the Suite, PlotArchitect saves key outputs back into the Suite Brain, including premise, wound, tropes, art direction, TikTok caption, and X/Twitter thread.

Using PlotArchitect Standalone

  1. Open the standalone PlotArchitect link provided in the classroom.
  2. Select your AI engine.
  3. Paste your API key into the key field if the tool asks for it.
  4. Choose the closest Target Aesthetic.
  5. Paste your book idea, blurb, synopsis, trope stack, or messy brainstorm into The Brain Dump.
  6. Click Architect the Plot.
  7. Use the copy buttons beside any output you want to save.

What to Paste Into the Brain Dump

  • A one-paragraph book idea
  • A rough synopsis
  • Character notes
  • Tropes and heat level
  • Setting, world, or aesthetic details
  • Comp titles or reader expectations
  • The emotional wound or central relationship conflict, if you know it

How to Use the Outputs

  • Scroll-Stop Premise: Use this as the foundation for blurbs, hooks, launch copy, and sales-page language.
  • Hook Wound: Use this to clarify the protagonist’s internal conflict and emotional marketing angle.
  • Trope Engine: Use this to identify the tropes readers will recognize and the twist that makes the book feel specific.
  • First Viral Image Scene: Use this for teaser graphics, TikTok slideshows, reels, or AI image prompts.
  • Possession Line: Use this as a punchy hook line for posts, ads, captions, or teaser slides.
  • TeaserPro Artistic Direction: Paste this into TeaserPro when you are ready to build visual social content.
  • TikTok Caption / X Thread: Use these as first-draft social posts. Edit them so they sound like your author voice before posting.

Common Fixes

  • The output is too generic: add more specific tropes, character details, setting texture, and emotional stakes.
  • The output is too spicy or too tame: change the Target Aesthetic and add your intended heat level directly in the brain dump.
  • The AI misses the point: paste a shorter, clearer version of the premise and tell it what the book is not.
  • The API fails: check the API key, confirm billing/credits with the provider, then try again after a minute.
